JAZZPAR Artists - Joakim Milder
Joakim Milder (S), b. 1965, performed with Fredrik Lundin Trio featuring Paul Bley at The JAZZPAR 1990 Event.

Milder is an eclectic, who is building on a number of sources: Lester Young, Sonny Rollins, Archie Shepp, Wayne Shorter, Jan Garbarek…
But be sure - Milder is his own man: less impetuous, no technical showing-off, telling part of the story "between the lines". He is a highly literate player with a great sense of form. At the same time his solos may be many-sided, sometimes marked by inner conflict. Milder considers "mistakes that sound right" an important part of his vocabulary for improvised music (remember Pee Wee Russell, Thelonious Monk…?).
