Billy Drummond (US), b. 1959, was part of Prize
Winner Chris Potter's JAZZPAR 2000 Septet.
Drummond love affair with jazz began through the record
collection of his father, who was also a drummer. Billy went to college
and obtained a degree in Music Performance. Arriving in New York in 1988
he soon joined and toured with Horace Silver's Sextet. Since then great
jazz artists like Sonny Rollins, Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson and James
Moody have called upon Billy Drummond. He has also recorded three CDs,
which reveal his imaginative and capable leadership. "Dubai",
which has Chris Potter as one of the group's two reed-players, is top
